Greetings and namaste to youthern.com and I am very pleased you came to stop by.
I go by the name of Susan. This is the small space on the web where I babble about useless things.
Feel free to enjoy/hate/be surprised. -

Well, it finally came. I’ve been looking forward to it seriously dreading it for the past few months. Always, always, always there are those prized few kids who are a few ages ahead of me and take the show away. They are very lucky because:
- They go to the church’s school (the recital is held at my church) and therefore have access to play on it as much as possible.
- I have a keyboard, not a piano. And those who know the difference, playing on a keyboard is much different from playing on a piano.
- I have only been playing for three years. Less than that.
However, my piano teacher has faith in me and in the line-up (the closer you are to the end of the recital, the better you are) and she had made me go 8th out of 11th. I finally sat in first row with the prodigies!
I am quitting piano lessons after this recital. I believe with the vast knowledge I’ve already learned, I can start teaching myself!
Basically, the little kids who are like 6-8 get up all nervous and shaking and sit by the piano and bang out tiny tunes. Then progressively, the next kids are moderately good, playing good songs but often do not have their music memorized. The best students play last, and they usually have their music memorized and play with almost perfection. I had all my three songs memorized! (I can’t say it was perfect…I messed up once, only one note, during my difficult song and improvised. At least no one really noticed!)
Any of you play instruments? How do you performances usually go?
